How My Website Process Works: Inside True Bearings
How my True Bearings process works: 4 weeks of brand strategy and a Webflow website, done for you, with one deep dive, a handful of approvals and ongoing care
My website process, True Bearings, takes four weeks and is done for you. It starts with brand strategy and positioning, moves into messaging and website copy, then the Webflow build and launch, with ongoing care afterwards. Your part is one deep dive at the start and a handful of approvals, and you don't write the copy.
You know your business has outgrown its website. Maybe you wince a little when you send someone the link, or the enquiries coming through aren't the clients you actually want. But the thought of a website project fills you with dread: months of meetings, endless questionnaires, and you somehow ending up writing all the copy yourself.
I get it. Most of my clients have been through a website build before that dragged on and still didn't fix the real problem. So here's how I work instead, what you're responsible for, and what happens once your new site is live.
Why I don't start with the website
Most of the businesses I work with don't have a website problem. They have a gap between how good they are at their work and how the market experiences them. You can fix the fonts and colours, but if the site doesn't say clearly who you're for, what makes you different and why you're worth it, it will look nicer and still underperform.
That's why strategy comes first. Before anyone opens a design tool, I want to know who your best clients are, why they choose you, what the wrong-fit enquiries have in common, and where people get stuck before they book. If you want the longer version of why this matters, I've written about what brand strategy is and why it's important, and the difference between a brand designer and a brand strategist.

What is True Bearings?
True Bearings is my 4-week brand strategy and website engagement, done for you. You give me one deep dive and a handful of approvals, and I (with my small team of contractors) take care of the rest. It's built for established service businesses who are brilliant at the work but don't have the time or headspace to run a website project on top of everything else.
Four weeks is deliberately short. Long projects lose momentum, decisions get re-made, and the business keeps changing underneath the plan. A tight timeframe keeps everyone focused on the few decisions that actually move the needle.
What does the process include?
Every True Bearings project covers the same core ingredients. The order matters, because each one builds on the last.
Brand strategy and positioning
This is the foundation. We get clear on who you serve best, the problem you solve for them, and the difference a client can actually see and believe. It's what makes every word and design choice after it easier.
Messaging and website copy
Your copy is written for you, in your voice, from the strategy. No blank Google Docs, no "just send through some text about yourself". It's written to answer the questions your ideal client is already asking and to turn the right visitors into enquiries.
Not sure what your website is actually costing you?
Four Questions. Two minutes
What do I actually have to do?
Less than you'd expect. This is the part clients tell me they were most worried about, so here's the honest answer:
- One deep dive. This is where I get everything out of your head: your clients, your work, your standards, what's frustrating you about how you're currently perceived. You talk, I listen and ask a lot of questions.
- A handful of approvals. At key points you review what's been done and either approve it or tell me what feels off. You're making decisions, not doing homework.
- Being available. Quick answers keep a four-week project on track, so it helps to block a little time in your calendar for reviews.
That's it. You don't need to write copy, source a sitemap template, or learn a new tool.
The Webflow build and launch
Your site is designed and built in Webflow, which I use because it gives service businesses fast, secure sites without a pile of plugins to keep updated. (If you're weighing it up, here's my comparison of Webflow vs Squarespace vs WordPress.) The structure is planned so each page has a job, starting with a homepage that does the heavy lifting. Before launch, the site is checked across devices, forms are tested, and the basics of search and answer engine visibility are set up properly from day one.
What happens after launch?
A website isn't a brochure you print once. It needs care: platform updates, security, broken links fixed, content refreshed, and ongoing attention to how you're showing up in Google and AI answers. That's what my Site Success Plans are for. They cover Webflow maintenance plus SEO and AEO care, so the site keeps working for you after the launch buzz wears off.
What does this look like for real businesses?
Beneath the Palms Midwifery came to me for strategy and a website rebuild. Afterwards, they were booked out for the rest of the year and added two new services. Unfurl EMDR went from no online presence to two enquiries a week and a GP referral a week within two months, ranking for EMDR therapy in Cairns. As the owner put it: "Clients, GPs and paediatricians are all finding me through my website." You can see more in my case studies.
Is True Bearings right for you?
It's a good fit if you're an established service business, you're winning most of your work through referrals, and your website no longer matches the quality of what you deliver. It's not for start-ups still figuring out their offer, or product and ecommerce businesses.
If you're not ready for a full engagement yet, a brand & web audit is a smaller first step: a recorded walkthrough of your current site, an ordered list of what to fix, and one section rewritten. And if you'd rather just talk it through, book a 30-minute call. It's a conversation, not a pitch.
How long does a website project take with Third Raven & Co?
True Bearings takes four weeks. It is a done-for-you brand strategy and website engagement, so the timeframe stays short and focused. Your part is one deep dive at the start and a handful of approvals along the way. Keeping the project tight stops decisions being re-made and keeps momentum up, so you launch while the thinking is still fresh.
What do I need to do as a client during True Bearings?
Very little compared with a typical website build. You take part in one deep dive where you share everything about your business, clients and goals, then review and approve work at a handful of key points. You do not write the copy or manage the build. The main thing that helps is replying quickly so the four weeks stay on track.
What happens after my website launches?
Your site needs ongoing care to keep performing. Site Success Plans cover Webflow maintenance plus SEO and AEO care, such as updates, fixes, content refreshes and keeping an eye on how you show up in Google and AI answers. That means the site keeps working for your business long after launch, instead of slowly going stale.
